Understanding The International Environment
The ever-changing landscape of history presents each generation with new and pressing challenges to face. As we approach the 21st century, we must confront a range of complex and dangerous threats that demand our attention. These challenges include a resurgent Russia, war in Eastern Europe, a rising China, nuclear weapons in Iran and North Korea, radical Islam, space as a battlefield, competition for natural resources and clean water, as well as a global pandemic. These are not hypothetical scenarios, but very real and pressing issues that require careful consideration and strategic planning. American leaders, representing democratic values, must take a leading role in identifying the critical dimensions of these threats and prepare for the challenges ahead.
Understanding America in the 21st Century
After three decades of the post-Cold War, US influence to shape world events has diminished. Despite its world leading economy and military technology, the US is failing to impose its political will on other countries. The second installment of Winning Without War will examine how America’s founding principles and Western moral traditions can help achieve effective statecraft and international security strategies in today’s world. The book will also explore the reasons behind US foreign policy failure since the end of the Cold War and analyze the underlying causes of current divisions. The book emphasizes the need to focus on these principles and traditions in national security strategies to unite America and tackle challenges. Additionally, the publication presents an action plan to revitalize America’s power and influence. Dr. Lansing emphasizes counterintelligence strategies to foster unity and strengthen national security while reversing the decline of democracy worldwide.
Understanding Modern China
Great power competition has been a consistent feature in international politics throughout history. After three decades of the post-Cold War, China and Russia are becoming more assertive, prompting the US to recognize the resurgence of great power rivalry as the greatest threat to national security. The Biden administration considers China the top state-based threat to the US, and Winning Without War’s Book 3 will explore potential strategies for countering China’s rising influence without nuclear conflict. To achieve this, an understanding of China’s intentions and capabilities is crucial. The book will also examine the Chinese Communist Party’s tactics and motivations in undermining the US and its values. Book 3 will propose an integrated system approach to avoid unnecessary conflict. The US has lost its ability to influence other nations in the past two decades. Despite its world-leading economy and military technology, the US is unable to sway other countries.
